The surface is already
a human landscape.

A lunar yard can be a descent stage and footprints. A silent rover at the end of its tracks. A drill site where a capsule departed carrying grains of another world.

This atlas treats each coordinate as a place: who reached it, what they brought, what happened there, and what remains part of the Moon’s material record.

The map is moving
south.

Ice, shadow, long light and difficult terrain are drawing many of the next missions toward the lunar south pole. A halo is a region under consideration—not a promise of exactly where a lander will stand.

Method and sources

A clear map starts with
honest uncertainty.

Measured and reported surface locations use pins. Broadly announced destinations use dashed regional halos. Missions without a public destination stay in the manifest and off the map.

The atlas is a curated public guide, not a complete catalogue of every orbiter, impactor, upper stage or small component on the Moon. Future destinations and schedules can change.
